Empowering Creativity

As part of our commitment to youth empowerment and practical skill development, Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI), in collaboration with @Qwiqkraft, hosted a hands-on skills-building session focused on custom printing on t-shirts, mugs, and gift items.

The session was engaging, interactive, and highly practical, giving participants the opportunity to learn essential techniques in design transfer, printing mechanics, and product personalization. More than just a workshop, it was a space for creativity, innovation, and self-expression.

Monitoring Safe Spaces

In partnership with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project team, Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI) recently conducted monitoring visits across 100 schools in Kwara State.

These visits were designed to assess the progress and impact of the Safe Space program—intentional, girl-centered environments where adolescent girls receive mentoring, psychosocial support, and life skills that empower them to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

5-Day Mentor Training Held Across Kwara State

Between May 20 and 25, 2025, Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI) facilitated a five-day step-down training across all 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State. The training aimed to equip 200 teachers and 100 community members to serve as mentors across 100 schools selected for the Safe Space program.

 

This initiative builds on previous training sessions held for facilitators, who were responsible for stepping down key learnings to the newly engaged mentors. The sessions were interactive and participatory, focusing on core themes from the Life Skills Manual, including:

• Building self-esteem and confidence

• Climate change

Training of Trainers on Life Skills fir AGILE Project Held in Omu- Aran

A 6-day Training of Trainers (ToT) was successfully conducted at Mucenty Hotel, Omu-Aran, as part of the Life Skills sub-component of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.

The training brought together selected facilitators and educators to deepen their understanding and capacity across the four key modules outlined in the AGILE Life Skills Manual:

Life Skills Manual Validation Meeting

The Validation of the Life Skills Training Manual developed for Safe Space Mentors in Kwara State was successfully held.
Hosted by Olive Community Development Initiative in collaboration with the Kwara State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), the event witnessed the presence of esteemed Commissioners, Directors, and Representatives from various ministries, departments, and agencies.

Key coalitions such as the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL) and the Civil Society Action Coalition on Education For All (CSACEFA) were also in attendance.

FRESH IN: OCDI & Agile Team Holds Inception Meeting with Kwara State SPIU

The Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI) and Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project teams successfully collaborated with the Kwara State Project Implementing Unit (SPIU) to hold an inception meeting, focusing on the implementation of life skills in selected Kwara State schools.

During the meeting, both teams introduced themselves, shared valuable insights, and outlined their objectives, vision, mission, and goals. The OCDI team elaborated on its goals, while the Agile team presented a comprehensive project overview, highlighting key objectives.
