From the 6th to 8th of August 2018, OCDI hosted over 50 participants for its annual summer camp, held at Kathryn Dick Memorial Youth Center Eiyenkorin, this camping activity, was designed to reach out to adolescent girls from within Nigeria, and it aimed to
Imbibe in the girls culture of excellence needed to become women of impact and influence through life building skills such as decision making skills, goal setting skills, refusal skills, assertiveness skills and self esteem, Raise awareness about the need for girls to build zero tolerance for academic failure, Sensitize and mentor girls continuously on their choice of future career, Expose the girls to different business opportunities through skills acquisition and practical sessions to ensure financial freedom.
In attendance were teachers and principals from different schools from Asa LGA in Kwara State
Guest speakers in person of Mrs Ifeoluwa Adeleke from Plush Organic, South Africa, taught the girls on passion discovery, goal settings and importance of dreams, and Hajia Hauwa K.A Aliyu, Project Officer, Gender and Vulnerable Group (GVG) from Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency, (KWSCDA), encouraged the girls to take bold steps necessary to actualize their goals as women of influence in the society.
